Keyworker accommodation

Supporting keyworkers

At Wincott Street in Kennington we provide a friendly, relaxed community space offering affordable accommodation for keyworkers in the heart of London.

Keyworkers play a vital role in society, and roles vary widely, from those working within health and social care, such as nurses, to those working in education, such as teachers, and those ensuring public safety, such as police officers.

However, London rents can be unaffordable. Research from Generation Rent reveals that “Renting in London is impossible for a range of keyworkers, with the average rent in inner London worth 106% of a teaching assistant’s salary.”

137 years ago, our founders, Katherine and Hugh Price-Hughes recognised that rent was a higher proportion of income in this same area of London, and were determined to do something to help those people struggling with the cost of living.

Today, Wincott Street supports 27 keyworkers at any one time, providing a stable, affordable place to live, and to save up for deposits.
