Come together this Christmas

Will you come together this Christmas to help people like Declan find their way in life

Declan’s story

Leaving prison can be a difficult time. People face complex issues and can feel alone. Declan found this when he moved into our accommodation in London this year. ‘I really thought no one cared. I just thought, I’ll get a place and then I’ll be rejected.’

In our accommodation, we helped Declan to access a creative music course, ‘It was a moment of gladness’ he explains.

‘It’s the time Strides took to give us this opportunity, the time to bring everyone out. Whether that be as an artist, or whatever they want to call themselves. We’re all talented in our own ways. You have just given us the opportunity to bring it out being here.’

We believe everyone deserves a fair chance to progress in life. This Christmas, come together and help people like Declan find their way in life.

Right now, things are tough for many of us.

One in four of us are struggling with our mental health. Nearly one in three of us are finding it difficult to cope with the cost of living. Half of us have reported feeling lonely. This isn’t right. We believe everyone deserves a fair chance to find their way in life.

So, let’s come together this Christmas.

Donate today

£11.16

£28.62

More than ever, today’s system is fragmented, inconsistent and lacking.

Whether it be low-cost counselling, affordable accommodation, vital support services or thriving community spaces, we exist to bridge the huge support gaps that exist today.

This Christmas, we will continue to provide the vital spaces people need to reach out, come together and support one another.

Last year, with your help we;

60 people

provided 60 people experiencing homelessness with coaching to help them maintain stability in their employment and to make the changes they want in life.

128 prison leavers

supported 128 people who’ve been through the criminal justice system to reintegrate in community and have the chance to change their life for the better.

131 people

supported 131 people to access long-term, low-cost counselling to overcome emotional distress, heal from trauma and help to look forward to a better future.

500 residents

provided 500 residents with local events and support to come together, respond to community needs, build resilience and reduce feelings of isolation in London.

Since 1887, thousands of people have been supported in London by Strides, formerly known as West London Mission.

From our early work creating crèches for working mothers, to creating affordable accommodation for keyworkers and employment coaching for people experiencing homelessness today, we bridge the support gaps that exist in London.
