Sunday Sanctuary

Created by Queerwell and hosted in Highbury Counselling Centre, Sunday Sanctuary is a national-first mental wellbeing hub designed specifically for the LGBTQ+ community.

Delivered in partnership with organisations such as You Are Loved, Sunday Sanctuary will offer therapy, coaching, workshops, creative “playshops,” and safe community connection, free or low-cost to people in most need with least resources.

Rooted in prevention and inclusion, it echoes the NHS 10-Year Plan priority for community-led, early intervention approaches to mental health, and crucially, it addresses Sundays as the loneliest day of the week for many LGBTQ+ people, offering belonging where family networks may be absent.

Founded in 2024 by LGBTQ+ people with lived and professional experience of mental health services, Queerwell is a national charity offering innovative, prevention-focused mental health and wellbeing support to the LGBTQ+ community (18 years and over).
